Raena studied studio arts majoring in Painting at the University of the Philippines. After college, she worked as Project Manager for a construction company and studied diesel engine mechanics and started restoring trucks, bulldozers and backhoes. Five years later, she went to New York and took a short course on black and white photography, darkroom processing and printing at the International Center of Photography. After New York, Raena built her own darkroom and still prints her own photos the “old school” way. She joins group shows exhibiting her fine art prints. She apprenticed under Steve Tirona and learned fashion and advertorial photography. She then contributed for the 2009 Philippines Year Book, shooting portraits of Manila’s young contemporary visual artists. After two years she started shooting on her own and has since shot for local magazines (Preview, Uno, Metro Him, Manual, Hair Asia), fashion designers (Gian Romano, Dennis Lustico), Album cover (Sinosikat?) and has gotten her share of billboard ads (Bannana Peel).
